Thus far FreeWheel, a video ad tech company that focuses primarily on the needs of broadcasters and operators, have focused most of their efforts on the US and the UK, where they work with many high profile clients including DirectTV, AOL, BSkyB, Channel 4 and Viacom, including Channel 5. However, with the backing of parent company Comcast, FreeWheel is about to start making some significant changes. As Frans Vermeulen, SVP of Global Solutions and Corporate Development, explained to VAN, FreeWheel  is about to ramp up its European presence and move more aggressively into the programmatic space, all the while remaining independent of the company’s new owners.
